Mrs. Theresa Mardoe Cephas

The Cephas, Jarvan, George, Brown, Kohn, and Duoe families announce with deepest sorrow the death of our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, missionary, Christian soldier and friend Mrs. Theresa Mardoe Cephas.

“Ma T” as she was affectionately called went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013, at the Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ.

Ma T is survived by eleven children: Mrs. Cecelia N. Goffa-Duoe (Thomas), Mrs. Theresa M. Brown (Sam), Mrs. Josephine Kohn (Nat), Mr. Anthony W. Cephas, Mr. William R. Cephas, Mr. Charles D. Cephas (Louise), Ms. Jeanetta O. Cephas, Ms. Hattie M. Cephas, Mr. Winston B. Cephas, Mr. Emmanuel F. Cephas, and Ms. Esther M. Cephas. She also survived by thirty five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.  Ma T is predeceased by her husband Mr. Anthony M. G. Cephas (aka Rivercess Devil), son Maxwell Alpha, six brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Esther Wleh Greene

The Greene/Grigsby,  Wleh, Pojah, Koon ,Jabbah,  Patten, and Draper families announced with profound sadness the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin Mrs. Esther Wleh Greene, the wife of  the late Perry A. Greene. This sad event occurred at the Catholic Hospital, Monrovia Liberia on August 14, 2013.  Mrs. Esther Greene was a devoted Christian, a loving mother and grand mother,  a reliable relative and dependable friend.

The family of Mr. Alexander S. Woart sadly announces with profound regrets his untimely departure from earth.  This sad event occurred on August 6, 2013 while he was being treated at NYU Hospital in New York, NY. 

Mr. Alexander Woart migrated to the United States in 1970 from Monrovia Liberia where he worked in several capacities before starting his own business which he later retired from.    Alexander loved people and valued his family and circle of friends. He will be sorely missed by his many friends all around the world.

“KIDDIGOU” as he was lovingly called by his friends leaves to mourn his loving wife Beatrice Morris Woart, his children Alexander B. Woart (Lavina), Gloria Woart, Alice Woart-Momo (Sangbey) and Nyeba Woart. 

He is also survived by his sister Sophia Bushmann (Henny Bushmann), his grandchildren Valorie, Theophilus, Al-Shabazz, Nathaniel, Christian, Chris, David and a host of other relatives and friends both in the United States and in Liberia, West Africa.

Maude Gueh James

With heavy hearts, The James Family of Roberstsport, Grand Cape Mount County and The Fahnbulleh Family of Gbesseh, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia announce with deep sadness the sudden and untimely homegoing of our beloved Sister, Aunt, Grand Aunt, Cousin and companion, Maude Gueh James. Aunty Maude as she was affectionately called departed this life peacefully on Sunday, July 21st, 2013 at her home in Wroto Town, Liberia.

Maude G. James was born on December 25th, 1948 unto the union of Joseph L. James and Madame Gueh Fahnbulleh in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County. She was the youngest of her siblings. Maude was predeceased by her parents Joseph James and Gueh Fahnbulleh, her grandmother Mrs. Lucretia James-Sims, her aunts Mrs. Margaret James-D'Almeda, Mrs. Julia Chenoweth, Mrs. Jestina Marshall, and her uncles, Moore James, Levi James and William James. Her sisters, Mrs. Margaret Givens-Butler, Mrs.Lucretia James-Paasewe, Mrs. Joetta James-Kiawu, her brothers Isaac James and Kpakamoi James.

She will be missed. She leaves to mourn her loss while cherishing her memories, a host of relatives and friends. Her sisters Mrs. Etmonia David-Tarpeh and Mother Pinkey James. Her nieces Jerrie Paasewe, Velma Kiawu-Fahnbulleh(Ben), Lucretia Paasewe, Edna Paasewe and Carnetta Anderson. Her nephews Boakai Paasewe and Ramy James. ‘The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh; may the name of the Lord be praised”. We accepted good from God, and now with tears, we announce the sudden passing of our daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and GOOD FRIEND on Friday, July, 26, 2013.

Wynnie was the second of six children born unto the union of the late Grand Kru County Senior Senator, Hon. Thomas K. F. Seedee and Mrs. Nancy Bleni Seedee on July 31, 1958. At an early age, she embraced the Christian faith and sang with the youth choir at the Mount Scott United Methodist Church in Harper, Maryland County. She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Highland, MD, USA. Wynnie made a lot of valuable friends during her life time and was always lively at social gatherings. She will be missed by her friends here and in Liberia.

Before migrating to the United States in 1981, Wynnie worked at the Executive Mansion in the office of the Minister of State for many years.  She joined the Prince George’s County School System in 1998 as a Special ED Instructor and was assigned at the Chapel Forge Elementary School in Bowie, MD up to the time of her death. 

Wynnie will be remembered and missed by her mother, Mrs. Nancy Bleni Seedee, children, Stephanie T. Pelham and Ndidi Ahaghotu, Sisters: Esther Seedee-Mah (William T.), S. Monsio Seedee and Gbeyonnoh Seedee. Brothers: Raymond (Bigboy), Amos Y. Bartu (Teta), V. Minikon Weah (Hannah), B. Kumeh Seedee (Elizabeth), J. The Jackson, Wesley and Cisco families announce with profound regrets the sudden death of their son, brother, and grandson, cousin, and nephew, Samuel Dixon Jackson Jr who passed away and lived in Lowell Massachusetts, USA. This sad and tragic death occurred on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA at about 6:30 pm due to drowning.

Samuel D. Jackson was born on July 08, 1992 in Liberia to Mr. Samuel D. Jackson Sr and Mrs. Beatrice Wesley Kessley.  S J, as affectionately called, migrated to the United States in 2011 to be with his father (Mr. Samuel D. Jackson Sr.) 

Samuel Jackson had fun in sports and was a fan of Liverpool soccer team. He was an honored student at the Middlesex Community College, majoring in civic engineering and a member of Emmanuel Temple of Hope Ministries in Tyngsboro MA.  

SJ is survived by his father Samuel D. Jackson, and his mother, Evangeline Cisco Jackson, his biological mother Beatrice Wesley Kessley and his Step-Mother, Ellen Nartiff.  Also he is survived by four sisters and a brother, Elfreda, Watchen, Kayla Jackson, Gaima and Beyan Kesseley.

He’s also survived by host of uncles and aunts: Dr. Mle-too Wesley, Gabriel K Nah, Varney W. Jackson jr, Lewis B. Joe, Judy Sieh, Concetta W, Davis, Annie Sieh, Jacob Cisco and his grandparents and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and a host other relatives and friends both in the United States and Liberia, West Africa.

Joseph Woart


The Hne Twebe Woart family announces with deep regret the death of their son, J Owen Dweh Woart. This sad event occurred at the St Joseph Catholic Hospital on Friday, July 19, 2013, in Monrovia, Liberia.

J. Owen Dweh Woart was Associate Professor of Management at the University of Liberia. He was also Assistant County Attorney of Montserrado County in Liberia. He was a member of the St Thomas Episcopal Church in Monrovia, Liberia.

His wife, Martha J. Clay-Woart predeceased him in December 2009. He is survived by his children, Mariana Wodonyene, Joseph Jr., Sigismund, and Jolyne. Three grandchildren, Joseph, Tyler, Nathaniel and Ava. Other relatives include J Wah-Doe Bedell Sr, Anthony Woart, Victoria Woart, Nathaniel Woart, Nyema Woart, Robert Taylor, nieces, nephews, cousins and coworkers. Close friends, Joseph Wheaton, Deddeh Baysah-Antoine and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held in Monrovia Liberia at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Camp Johnson, Monrovia on August 10, 2013. Interment will take place on Du Port cemetery.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace.

Mr. Morris V. Dukuly

Thanks to all those who helped prayed for our father Mr. Morris V. Dukuly. He passed away this morning. God know the reason why , and we can not question Him. May his soul rest in peace. God bless him with 6 living children, 5 girls and a boy. Fatu Dukuly, Dekontee Dukuly, Famata Dukuly, Emmanuel Dukuly, Sangaye Dukuly and Michelle Dukuly. We love you daddy and you will always be missed. RIP

Thewinco Leela "T- Win" Caesar

The Caesar, Cooper, Gbegbe and Logan families announce with profound regrets the sudden death of their daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend, Thewinco Leela Caesar. This sad and tragic event occurred on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA at about 6:30pm due to drowning.

Thewinco Leela Caesar was born on June 14, 1991 in Liberia unto the union of  Mr. Emmanuel Caesar and Mrs. Kolu Gbegbe Cooper.

Leela and brother E Man migrated to the United States in 2010 to be with their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Joseph Cooper.  Leela loves the Lord dearly. She was an honored student at Delaware Community College majoring in Psychology. She was also the President of the African Students Association.

T- Win, as she was lovingly called by friends and former schoolmates, leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Korlu Gbegbe Cooper (Charles Cooper); her father, Emmanuel Caesar; and brother, Emmanuel Caesar, Jr. 

She is also survived by her grandparents: Dr. Frederick S. & Mrs. Mildred Gbegbe, Mr.& Mrs. Charles Caesar, numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and a host other relatives and friends both in the United States and Liberia, West Africa.

Judson Benedict Addy (Affectionately known as “Benny Addy”)

The Addy, Horace, Minor, Worrel, Lyles, families of Upper Buchannan and the Mighty Barrolle Sport Association, the church families of Bethel World Outreach Ministries of Silver Spring, MD, USA and the Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ, Monrovia, Liberia announce with an abundance of thanksgiving to the Almighty God the home going of Judson Benedict Addy Sr., affectionately known as “Benny Addy” their Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Cousin, Grand and great grandfather. This sad event occurred at 11 a.m. July 29th, 2013 at the Fairland Nursing Home, Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A.

Celebrating his transition is his wife of many years Mrs. Edith Minor Addy, two siblings –Joseph and Irene, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings Nicholas & Charles Worrel, David, Cecilia and Emmanuel Addy as well as his children Naomi, Charles, Fabio and Elizabeth Addy.

Benny was Liberia’s first trained machinist and a long time employee of the then Department of Public Works, later on a contractual employee of the Voice of America in Careysburg, and USAID in Monrovia. He founded the Mighty Barrolle Football Club in Bishop Brooks and became its first president. He also served as Secretary, Liberia Sport Commission and participated as a delegate to the Olympics in Japan
